Swimming among sharks

Frank Weyzig shares his perspective on this project:

“Our interpretation of ‘Tearing The Blackbox’ embodies the concept of ‘exposing and revealing the truth.’ The Blackbox signifies the enigmatic container of truth, concealed within mystery. Only by dismantling and breaking it open can we uncover and present reality. In an era where discerning truth from falsehood across social and other media platforms is increasingly difficult, the internet has become a labyrinth of misinformation— a landscape demanding cautious navigation, akin to swimming among sharks.”

Tearing The BlackBox (TTBB) is an alternative indie band formed in 2022 by Canadian musician and producer Kelly Cook and Dutch musician and producer Frank Weyzig. Cook, formerly of the band Moev, and Weyzig, of Born For Bliss and Vaselyne, first met in 1989 while touring the United States with their respective bands, Moev and Clan of Xymox. Though they lost touch over the years, the two reconnected and decided to collaborate on new music.

Due to the distance between them, Cook based in Vancouver, Canada and Weyzig in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the band had to rely on sending audio files back and forth over the internet to work on their music. What started as a fun project quickly turned into a full-fledged album, set to release later in 2024.
